The ICSC European Conference takes place in Milan in April, with Design International’s Head of Global Business Development, Luca Cappuccitti, taking the position of Co-Chair.
With 'destination appeal' widely acknowledged as a critical success factor for modern retail, the question now becomes how destinations can differentiate themselves from the competition. The answer very often lies in building on an 'authentic quality' so strongly connected to the city/location/brand that it is extremely difficult to replicate. The ICSC European Conference will explore these ideas and how leveraging authenticity can propel retail to greater heights.
“We are working to bring in Milan the best retail brands and we will focus on how to attract and bring culture, museums, arts, edu-tainment and gourmet F&B into shopping centres," commented Mr Cappuccitti.
The 2015 European Conference in London was a huge success and this will be hard to top. However, Mr Cappuccitti believes that Milan is the perfect location for this year's conference theme:
"With the theme being 'Authenticity: Differentiating Retail', Milan is the perfect location. Back in the mid-1970’s, a new generation of Italian ready-to-wear designers emerged; starting from craftsmanship, local heritage and values. Now, not only is Milan recognised internationally as one of the world's most important fashion capitals, but it also has an established long history within the fields of fashion, textiles and design in general."
Mr Cappuccitti will be joined by Mr Davide Padoa, CEO of Design International, at the ICSC European Conference in Milan on 18th and 19th April 2016.
