The ICSC European Conference 2016 starts today in Milan, with Design International's Head of Global Business Development, Luca Cappuccitti, taking the position of co-Chairman.
'Destination appeal' is widely acknowledged as a critical success factor for modern retail, and the question now becomes how destinations can differentiate themselves from the competition. This is something that is going to be widely explored at the conference over the next few days in Milan. The answer very often lies in building on an 'authentic quality' so strongly connected to the city/location/brand that it is extremely difficult to replicate.
This year's conference theme is 'Authenticity: Differentiating Retail' and there will be a particular focus on how to attract and bring culture, museums, arts, edu-tainment and gourmet F&B into shopping centres.
The conference, which runs Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th April, will also include various retail tours on Wednesday. Guests to the ICSC European Conference, will have the opportunity to visit Il Centro in Milan, which was unveiled by Design International and Finiper last week.
