How to create a unique shopping experience along with a sense of place?
In line with all LIVAT centres, the brief is to create a scheme that has a full-size IKEA store as an anchor and also incorporates a mix of Scandinavian design, giving each centre its own unique atmosphere.
Our concept is based on a “Scandinavian journey”. This is reflected in the use of a simple, smooth white fascia that unifies the façade and gives hierarchy to the signage. At the entrances the facade breaks into layers that reveal the four levels of shopping, large LED Screens and smooth layout of the malls. The Scandinavian journey through the malls continues, with differentiation of areas being created through design based on specific Scandinavian elements such as the waterfall, the lighthouse and the forest tree house. Externally, the materials used in the building reflect a link with Scandinavia in a very direct way. The architecture is strong and sculptural and alludes to the sculptures in the park next door.
