Mall of Guadalajara
One of the main inspirations for this project was Mexican culture and art in general, and traditional Sarape patterns in particular. Fabrics with Sarape patterns are made with natural colourants found in the area around Guadalajara. Mall of Guadalajara uses the same colours, therefore recreating the feel and spirit of the area. It was the weaving technique of the fabrics, however, that provided the overall architectural concept. The architecture of the project aims to emulate this weaving process, as if the different parts of the building had literally been woven together.
